We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our team at InterMed, P.A. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor patients' perioperative condition and consult with anesthesiologists and surgeons as necessary.
- Formulate anesthesia care plans under medical direction.
- Record vital signs, procedures, and medications administered accurately and completely.
- Review patient history and physiologic findings prior to induction.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including IV access, sedation, and invasive line placement as needed.
- Complete required documentation for patient billing, care, and quality improvement measures.
- Prepare medication, equipment, and anesthesia machines in a timely fashion.
- Follow FDA protocol for anesthesia machine checks.
- Maintain a safe work environment and contribute to a culture of safety.
- Minimize risk of fire, electrical shock, equipment malfunction, and infection.
- Report variances and unsafe conditions via the incident reporting database.
- Adhere to InterMed policies and procedures.
- Consider patient acceptance and physiologic status.
- Work within time and budget restraints.
- Safely transfer care to the PACU team and communicate essential anesthetic course information.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of patient care.
- Respect patient and family human rights at all times.
- Maintain a patient advocate role at all times.
- Collaborate with the ASC Nurse Manager to complete CRNA staffing schedules.
- Provide education to CRNAs and clinical staff on topics relevant to the ASC scope of services.
- Ensure anesthesia supply and medication par levels are established and maintained in collaboration with the Surgical Supply Specialist.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Function as a liaison between CRNAs and the contracted Anesthesia Medical Director.
- Ensure anesthesia-related policies, procedures, and workflows are current and align with best practice, licensing, and accreditation guidelines.
- Maintain a collaborative working relationship with the ASC Medical Director, Nurse Manager, and Administrator.
- Provide subject matter expertise in ASC initiatives, such as service line development, procedure addition, and equipment evaluation.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine and successful completion of a course for Nurse Anesthesia at an accredited school.
- Board certification as a Nurse Anesthetist by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
- ACLS and PALS certification required.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact with acutely ill patients and medical staff members.
- A high degree of analytical and problem-solving skills to gather and assess data appropriately and treat patients in accordance with physician orders and InterMed protocols.
- Ability to use independent judgment and seek guidance and/or support from appropriate resources when needed.
