Bristol-Myers Squibb is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Principal Scientist to lead our Cellular Technologies Group, which provides foundational cell biology to support Leads Discovery and Optimization's core mission to find and advance small molecule leads.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, execute, and direct mammalian cell culture operations, ensuring the continuous supply of cultured and primary cells, organoids, and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to support high-throughput screening activities and daily lead optimization assays.
- Oversee a complex operation, managing a team of six scientists by assigning roles and responsibilities to ensure the delivery of cellular reagents required for efficient drug discovery operations.
- Develop and apply iPSCs, organoids, and other complex cellular models, scaling these systems sufficiently to enable small molecule phenotypic screening campaigns.
- Collaborate effectively across Bristol-Myers Squibb's research locations and work closely with our partner in India to produce a variety of cell-based reagents supporting experimental activities in the United States.
- Extensive experience and command of the principles of mammalian cell culture and proven managerial success in enacting these principles in an industrial setting.
- Experience with automated cell culturing systems, such as the SelecT/CompacT, is considered a plus.
- Command of various primary cell isolation/differentiation and purification methodologies.
- Significant experience in the maintenance, expansion, and differentiation of iPSCs to support genetic model development and phenotypic screens.
- Extensive experience with the MaxCyte system to produce HTS quantities of transiently transfected cells.
- Experience with lentiviral transduction and production of engineered human T cells.
- Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
- Ability to manage projects across functional lines and geographic locations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting data and ideas to multiple stakeholders across disciplines.
- Ability to teach and train new entry-level scientists.
- An intense desire to innovate and apply new methods, technologies, and ideas to the field of drug discovery, making a profound impact on the lives of patients.
- Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of academic or industry experience.
- Master's Degree with 6+ years of academic or industry experience.
- PhD and 4+ years of academic or industry experience.
