Job Overview

The Urban Sales Representative collaborates closely with the Marketing Director to formulate and implement effective sales initiatives, presentations, and meetings primarily focused on the metropolitan market. This market encompasses a diverse range of groups, including local residents, businesses, tourists, community organizations, seniors, students, and alumni associations.

This role is essential in driving ticket revenue and fostering audience growth through the establishment of strong relationships and sales within the target demographics, all while upholding the vision and values of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and maintain comprehensive knowledge of all concerts and events presented by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.
  • Develop and manage a detailed, organized, and prioritized database of current and prospective groups along with their primary contacts.
  • Establish a robust network of connections with concierges and leaders of residential buildings in the urban area.
  • Oversee the creation and development of essential sales materials (brochures, email templates, presentation slides, etc.) for use in metropolitan marketing and sales efforts, in collaboration with the Marketing Director.
  • Represent the San Diego Symphony Orchestra at selected annual and monthly meetings with community groups and networking events.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director to devise an annual sales strategy aimed at achieving sales objectives, which should include target audiences, detailed marketing and sales tactics, timelines, and performance metrics.
  • Maintain and distribute precise recruitment reports.
  • Work alongside the Corporate Relations Manager to develop sponsorship agreements and ticket promotions.
  • Coordinate closely with the Database Administrator to manage Group and Corporate patron information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient sales capabilities.
  • Experience or comfort with public speaking engagements.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Familiarity with San Diego's philanthropic, business, and arts sectors.
  • Passion for classical music performance and arts education.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to lead and support.

General Requirements:

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary for concert and rehearsal coverage.
  • Capability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Able to lift and move a minimum of 20 lbs.

Working Environment:

  • Consistent and predictable attendance is required, along with evening and weekend shifts.
  • Standard office conditions: prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer, typing, and light to moderate lifting.

Compensation:

Hourly Rate: $36.00
