Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tax Manager to join our team at Towne Family of Companies. As a Tax Manager, you will play a critical role in providing support for the tax function of our financial institution, which includes multi-state corporations and partnerships with business operations in banking, insurance, and real estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the ASC 740 Tax Provision Process: Provide support for the ASC 740 tax provision process, including book/tax difference calculations, deferred tax inventory, internal and external SEC reporting.
  • Manage Tax Compliance: Manage the US federal and state income tax and franchise tax compliance process, including reviewing corporate and partnership tax returns, support workpapers, state apportionment, and quarterly estimate payments.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Manage compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy of financial information.
  • Tax Calendar Management: Maintain the tax calendar to ensure compliance with all deadlines.
  • Tax Process Improvement: Identify tax compliance process improvement initiatives to efficiently transfer tax data between financial accounting and tax applications.
  • Fixed Asset Management: Monitor fixed asset activity and review for compliance with IRS MACRS depreciation guidelines.
  • Audit and Query Coordination: Coordinate audits and queries received from tax authorities, research, and prepare responses as appropriate.
  • Record Management: Support the maintenance of records management of all filings and other tax compliance activities, including audit responses.
  • Tax Research and Analysis: Research income tax issues and communicate conclusions and recommendations to management through written technical memos.
  • Tax Insights and Recommendations: Analyze data and information to provide taxation insights and recommendations related to returns, re-assessments, objections, etc.
  • Consulting and Support: Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support to other departments and business lines.
  • Professional Development: Keep abreast of relevant US federal and state income tax law changes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations, including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Requirements
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of experience with US federal and state income tax compliance and ASC 740 Accounting for Income taxes.
  • Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field.
  • Skills: Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business, while meeting deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and Windows operating environment. Knowledge of tax research techniques and tax research software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and time management skills. Ability to work over 40 hours per week during peak times. Build and maintain relationships, internally and externally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Certification: Professional certification - Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Public Accounting Experience: Public accounting experience.
