Job Title: Before and After School Instructor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Before and After School Instructor to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for implementing culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities for elementary age participants in our Before and After-School Enrichment (BASE) program.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement activities that promote social-emotional learning, teamwork, and skill building in a fun and engaging environment.
  • Supervise and ensure the health and safety of participants, providing a positive experience for each child.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, staff, and volunteers to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining a developmentally appropriate site, including appearance, décor, and cleanliness.
  • Prepare and serve snacks, cleaning the snack area as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

Requirements:

  • 16 years of age or older, 18 or older preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with children, camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
  • Ability to model and demonstrate YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
  • Experience planning and implementing group activities.
  • TB test by Mantoux method.
  • Completion of minimum STARS required training, CPR/First Aid Training.
  • Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
