Job Summary

The Department of Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dining Room Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for training and coordinating the work performance of student employees and Culinary Assistants in the areas of guest relations, dining room service, and line service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train staff to ensure exceptional customer service and high-quality food preparation.
  • Coordinate the efforts of employees to maintain a clean and organized dining environment.
  • Maintain adherence to all established safety and sanitation procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Operate cash register and perform customer service duties as needed.
  • Assist with food preparation, serving, and presentation.
  • Prepare and distribute reports, including charge vouchers and meal vouchers.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in food service, including supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and enforce all policies and procedures, especially those pertaining to sanitation and safety.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with employee and customer conflicts.
  • Knowledge of food service methods and equipment, including point of sale systems and cash register operation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Full knowledge and acceptance of principles of diversity.
  • Supervisory and leadership skills, including the ability to train and instruct employees.
  • Ability to read, understand, and enforce all policies and procedures, especially those pertaining to sanitation and safety.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with employee and customer conflicts.
  • Knowledge of food service methods and equipment, including point of sale systems and cash register operation.
Work Environment

This position requires standing, walking, use of fingers and hands, reaching, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, hearing, speaking, and seeing. The ability to stand for an extended period of time without a significant rest period and the ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently are also required.
