Position Overview

Salary: $28.00 / Hour

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in assessing patients through telephone consultations or in-person visits to ascertain the urgency and required level of care. The LPN will assist the Practice Manager in overseeing clinical support staff and will provide patient care under the supervision of CHP Physicians. Responsibilities will be executed as assigned and permitted under their licensure. This role is integral to supporting CHP's mission, vision, and values while adhering to compliance protocols and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities of the Licensed Practical Nurse:
  • Assess patients via telephone or in-person; authorize same-day appointments when appropriate; facilitate referrals to specialists; manage PT-1 forms; provide patient education; supervise medical assistants as necessary.
  • Support physicians during procedures requiring nursing assistance; administer immunizations and allergy injections; handle prescription medication requests; process lab results, retrieve charts, review and flag abnormal results for physician attention, and communicate results to patients as directed; document all procedures performed.
  • Assist in daily equipment quality checks; contribute to quality assurance charting (HCG, strep, sickle cell, urinalysis dipstick, etc.); ensure accurate billing codes; perform other routine office tasks as needed.

  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability; uphold scheduling commitments.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is an advantage.

Education:
  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program is required.
Experience:
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an outpatient setting is preferred. Proficiency in electronic medical records is required. CPR certification is advantageous.
Licensure and Certification:
  • Must hold a valid practical nursing license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Physical Requirements:
  • Refer to ADA form.
