Position Overview:
This role is situated within the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), specifically in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the House Office Buildings (HOB) under the Client Services Division, Labor and Custodial Branch. The incumbent will function as a Custodial Worker Leader, responsible for establishing work pace, offering guidance, and executing as well as verifying cleaning tasks across designated areas.
Work Schedule:
The scheduled hours for this position are from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM. This role is deemed essential during emergencies, requiring potential reporting during such events. Additionally, a 10% Night Differential is applicable for this night shift position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of Custodial Workers, WG-04, by receiving assignments and guidelines from Supervisors.
- Execute cleaning operations independently in assigned areas, adhering to a predetermined schedule that outlines task frequency.
- Assess and prioritize non-routine cleaning tasks as necessary.
- Utilize scaffolds, ladders, and man lifts to complete cleaning assignments in various environments including offices, public corridors, restrooms, and storage areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of diverse surfaces such as marble, stainless steel, and wood, employing appropriate cleaning solutions to remove stains and marks.
- Prepare areas for cleaning by relocating heavy furniture and other items as needed.
- Restock supplies like toilet paper, soap, and towels as required.
- Identify and report maintenance issues, such as broken lights or damaged flooring, to the appropriate supervisor.
- Manage recyclable materials and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including OSHA standards, to maintain a safe working environment.
- Provide training to team members on safety practices and equipment usage.
- Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Employment Conditions:
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and able to pass a drug test. Eligibility for employment requires meeting specific categories outlined by the Architect of the Capitol.
Qualifications:
All candidates must fulfill eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. A key requirement includes demonstrating experience in leading a team and overseeing cleaning operations in assigned areas.
