Position Overview:

Under direct supervision, the role involves performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks. The individual will operate various equipment related to the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of the City's water, wastewater, and drainage systems. The position may require leading Maintenance Specialists I and II in the absence of a Crew Leader, along with other assigned duties.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Assist the Crew Leader in planning, scheduling, and executing construction and maintenance activities to ensure quality services for water, wastewater, streets, and drainage.
2. Engage in labor-intensive tasks as part of a team, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, and pipe repair.
3. Maintain and service water supply and sewer lift stations, ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.
4. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, reporting any defects to the supervisor.
5. Address complaints regarding water leaks, pressure issues, and sewer backups, providing clear communication to residents and business owners.
6. Train Maintenance Specialists I and II to enhance their skills in maintaining and repairing water, wastewater, and storm drainage systems.

Minimum Requirements:

Graduation from High School or GED with three (3) years of relevant experience in construction, maintenance, or water distribution and sewer collection systems is required. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Other Requirements:

A valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker endorsement is required or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire. A good driving record in accordance with city standards is essential. The candidate must reside within a one-hour response time from the Public Works Building and may be required to be on-call and work during nights, evenings, and weekends. A minimum of a Class "C" Water Distribution License and Wastewater Collection System Class 2 License is necessary or must be obtained within twelve months of hire.
