Role Purpose:

This role involves assessing, treating, and educating patients of all ages who are experiencing disabilities, injuries, or other health challenges. The Physical Therapist plays a crucial role in helping individuals achieve their highest potential and reintegrate into their communities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct patient care to ensure the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations and develop tailored treatment plans to meet patient goals.
  • Administer physician-recommended physical therapy interventions to help patients regain optimal functionality.
  • Manage caseloads efficiently to maximize treatment effectiveness.
  • Utilize appropriate treatment modalities to enhance patient recovery and minimize residual disabilities.
  • Identify contraindications to treatment and collaborate with the supervising physician as necessary.
  • Engage family members or caregivers in the treatment and discharge planning process.
  • Interpret and apply age-specific information to meet each patient's unique needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to communicate patients' progress to physicians, insurers, and caregivers.
  • Work with hospital staff to ensure high-quality patient care and cost-effective programming, while providing education for home exercise regimens.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT).
  • Preferred: At least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred: Experience with electronic medical records.
  • Preferred: Background in orthopedics, neurology, or vestibular rehabilitation.

  • Commitment to meeting patient and departmental needs.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy techniques and equipment to ensure patient safety and effectiveness.

Licensure Requirements:
Active New York State Physical Therapist License or eligibility for a temporary permit.

  • Manual Skills: Significant manual dexterity and coordination required.
  • Occupational Risks: Potential exposure to various occupational hazards.
  • Physical Conditions: Some exposure to environmental factors.
