Immigration Services Coordinator

This role is situated within the Field Operations Directorate, focusing on the Boise ID Field Office.
As an Immigration Services Assistant (OA), your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the Adjudication Services Process. This includes assisting Immigration Services Officers, managing files and databases, handling correspondence, conducting security checks, and performing data analysis. You will also be tasked with preparing reports and delivering direct service to clients.
Eligibility Criteria
This position is open to:
- Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL) for federal employees classified as "surplus" or "displaced".
- The general public, specifically U.S. Citizens and Nationals.
Key Responsibilities
The duties outlined are intended for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, tasks will be more limited in scope and complexity:
1. Review various applications and submissions from USCIS customers for accuracy and completeness of initial supporting documentation.
2. Schedule appointments for applicants and communicate directly with them and their representatives.
3. Analyze files, reports, and information systems to ensure data integrity and update information as necessary.
4. Produce sensitive and secure documents.
5. Identify applications requiring expedited processing or fee waiver requests and ensure they are directed through the appropriate channels.
6. Utilize office automation software to create and edit documents and correspondence, including graphics, databases, and spreadsheets.
7. Manage individual case files, track file movements, conduct audits, and serve as a liaison with other agencies.
Conditions of Employment
To qualify for this position, you must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
- Successfully pass a background investigation, including financial disclosure.
- Pass a drug screening.
- Submit a resume and supporting documentation.
Physical and Technical Requirements
Applicants must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and possess proficiency in general office automation software, practices, and procedures. Typing certification of at least 40 words per minute is required.
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-05 level, candidates must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal government, or have completed four years of education above high school from an accredited institution. Specialized experience includes:
- Performing office automation duties, including editing and reformatting correspondence and reports.
- Creating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases.
- Responding to inquiries via phone or in writing.
- Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of submitted documents for benefits.
For higher GS levels, additional specialized experience is required, focusing on more complex tasks such as analyzing cases for expedited processing and preparing reports using various software applications.
