Nurse Manager

The Nurse Manager is a key role in the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System, responsible for coordinating care and implementing the Community Care (CC) Program. This position requires a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management of complex care.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinates with multiple disciplines to guide and evaluate individual patients through the CC Program.
- Demonstrates excellence in the management of the Non-VA patient care population in the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System and in collaboration with community vendors.
- Receives consults to community care, reviews and evaluates the contents of the consult/clinical documentation to ensure that eligibility requirements are met, and documentation supports the referral to community care.
- Leads the CC Care team in delivering high-quality care through extensive knowledge and understanding of the VA benefits package and the types of care that are excluded.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Experience as an RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following five dimensions of nursing: Practice, Veteran/Patient Driven Care, Leadership, Professional Development, and Evidence/Based Practice/Research.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Lean Sigma training.
- Experience with Community Care or similar programs (consult management).
- Telephone, VISTA, CPRS and HSRM experience.
