POSITION SUMMARY:

Each RN/LPN plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for Tabitha's Seniors/clients by delivering various prescribed medical treatments and personal care services under the guidance of a physician, adhering to the medical care plan and fulfilling the objectives outlined in the comprehensive care plan. They contribute to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness of the elders/clients through respectful, professional, and compassionate interactions. This TEAMember is committed to upholding Tabitha's LIVE2Care Culture and actively embodies Tabitha's Core Values. By doing so, they support Tabitha's goals concerning the dignity, respect, independence, competence, autonomy, personal comfort, safety, and security of the elders/clients. Additionally, the TEAMember collaborates continuously with family members, colleagues, management, volunteers, and others within the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implements physician's directives in accordance with Tabitha's policies and procedures. If necessary, receives and documents physician's orders.
  • Prepares, administers, and/or oversees the administration of medications, treatments, and other nursing services as prescribed by the physician and in line with facility policies/procedures. Monitors patients for any adverse reactions to medications.
  • Evaluates Seniors/clients assigned to them regarding their physical, mental, and psychosocial conditions, promptly reporting any changes to the immediate supervisor and providing follow-up with family and physician as directed. Accurately measures and records vital signs.
  • Diligently monitors Senior/client skin condition per Tabitha policies, proactively taking measures to prevent pressure ulcers.
  • Completes procedures and documents relevant information in the Senior's/client's medical record promptly, adhering to Tabitha's policies and procedures, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness, following departmental protocols for complete documentation submission.
  • Guides and supervises Med Aides in administering medications to Seniors/clients. Ensures adherence to the comprehensive care plan tailored for each individual Senior/client.
  • Provides oversight and education to Seniors/clients regarding self-administration of medications. When applicable, assists in teaching the elder/client and/or caregiver the necessary skills to facilitate the elder/client's return to their home.

Qualifications

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must possess the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language, including medical terminology relevant to the role. Adequate fluency is required to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, provide guidance to others, read and interpret care plans or service plans, policies, procedures, or similar documentation, engage effectively with elders/clients/caregivers, conduct conversations, participate in meetings, compose professional emails or written communications, and prepare clear, accurate, and thorough documentation as required. Must be able to recognize and interpret non-verbal cues and respond calmly and clearly in emergencies and emotional situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be capable of accessing the work area and safely executing job duties while utilizing standard and specialized equipment. Physical stamina is necessary to perform tasks while moving throughout the work area for the entire shift with minimal opportunities to sit down and with little or no breaks between tasks. Strength and agility are required to frequently and continuously lift, push, pull, reach, squat, kneel, bend, carry, twist, pinch, grasp, and climb stairs while performing duties (such as transferring and repositioning) and handling various supplies and equipment. Frequent periods of intense activity are expected. Ability to perform unassisted transfers (to and from bed, chair, toilet, commode, bathtub, or shower) and provide care to elders/clients who may be weak, frail, obese, or unable to assist due to limited mobility, quadriplegia, paraplegia, tremors, paralysis, etc. Must maintain composure and work effectively when others (such as elders/clients, coworkers, or family members) experience emotional extremes, including situations where elders/clients may become combative. Vision and hearing must be within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lifting/pushing/pulling capability and successfully pass a 50-pound physical exam demonstrating strength and agility prior to employment and periodically thereafter at Tabitha's discretion.

AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum age of 18.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse educational program. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Preferred 6 months of experience as an RN or LPN.

CREDENTIALS: RN or LPN License in good standing as recorded on the Nebraska State Registry or another Nurse Compact state is required. CPR certification is mandatory. License and CPR certification must be maintained at the employee's expense. Must comply with Tabitha's vaccination requirements.
