POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pediatric Service-Based Pharmacist delivers comprehensive pharmaceutical care tailored to the pediatric demographic.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide expert pharmaceutical care to ensure optimal therapeutic results.
• Advocate for cost-effective medication therapies.
• Facilitate the education of pharmacy students and residents (PGY1 and PGY2).
• Engage in research initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes.
• Contribute to Medical Center and Department committees.
• Uphold hospital standards to foster a collaborative work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
• Assist in the verification of medication orders and the distribution of pharmaceutical products.
• Lead educational efforts for pharmacists and healthcare professionals regarding pharmacotherapy.
• Initiate and/or partake in medication utilization assessments.
• Participate in emergency drug therapy management.
• Collaborate in the development and implementation of treatment protocols to elevate patient care.
Position Highlights:
Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist, PRN Acute Care
Work Schedule:
Variable weekdays, weekends, and holidays
Impact on Patient Care:
Your role may encompass, but is not limited to:
• Processing medication orders and prescriptions from healthcare providers.
• Supervising pharmacy technicians to ensure prompt and precise medication dispensing, optimizing staff efficiency.
• Delivering pharmaceutical care to achieve the best patient outcomes.
• Contributing to quality improvement initiatives through collaborative efforts.
• Continuously enhancing and documenting professional skills and knowledge.
• Maintaining compliance documentation with established standards and regulations.
• Setting personal objectives aligned with departmental goals.
• Providing age-appropriate care in accordance with established guidelines.
• Promoting a cooperative work atmosphere through effective communication and teamwork.
Qualifications:
• Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is required.
• Current state pharmacist license in good standing is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Completion of PGY1 Pharmacy residency and PGY2 Residency in Pediatrics is preferred (or 2-4 years of clinical experience in acute care settings may be considered in lieu of formal training).
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic healthcare environment.
