This firm has a remarkable history of representing numerous clients in various legal matters, including personal injury, civil litigation, and mass torts such as product liability and defective medical products.
The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Personal Injury paralegals, working under the guidance of the Lead Paralegal. This full-time position is based in a collaborative office environment. Ideal candidates should exhibit motivation, attention to detail, and possess relevant experience in the legal field.
Key Responsibilities- Assist paralegals in managing a high volume of civil litigation cases, particularly those involving significant personal injuries.
- Support the preparation and filing of legal documents.
- Contribute to drafting pleadings, notices, and responses to discovery requests.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including calendar management and deadline tracking.
- Facilitate communication among all parties, including courts and other neutrals, for scheduling and information sharing.
- Coordinate and assist attorneys in the preparation for depositions.
- Prepare materials for expert witnesses and consultants.
- Conduct research on case-related factual issues using both internal and external resources.
- Assist in preparations for court appearances.
- Organize and maintain electronic case files within the firm's case management system.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant; an Associate Degree is preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and documentation.
- Detail-oriented, team-oriented, and possess excellent customer service skills.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ethics, judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
