POSITION SUMMARY

The Sales Associate is responsible for processing transactions for services and parts, while also playing a vital role in fostering customer satisfaction.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position operates on a Tuesday to Saturday schedule.

Full-time opportunities are available, or the role may be filled by two part-time employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are essential to the role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

  • Welcomes customers at the service counter with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Calculates customer invoices accurately.
  • Processes payments via cash, checks, or credit cards, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Issues change and provides receipts to customers.
  • Handles returns by processing cash refunds or credit notes for returned items.
  • Operates the point-of-sale system efficiently.
  • Balances the cash drawer at the end of each day.
  • Directs customer inquiries regarding services or repairs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Addresses customer complaints with professionalism and, when necessary, escalates issues to management for resolution.
  • Maintains organized records of repair orders, invoices, and other documentation.
  • Closes outstanding invoices promptly.
  • Reconciles fuel purchase statements as required.
  • Provides support to the service and parts departments by answering phone calls.
  • Assists with clerical tasks for the parts and service departments.
  • Collaborates with the department manager to stay informed about new products, services, and pricing changes.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and a tidy workspace.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Other tasks may be assigned as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • No prior experience is required.
  • Less than a high school education or up to one month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A high school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A one-year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Candidates should possess the ability to:

  • Read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Write basic correspondence.
  • Effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.

MATH SKILLS

Candidates should be able to:

  • Add and subtract two-digit numbers and perform multiplication and division with 10's and 100's.
  • Handle operations using American currency and measurements.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to follow simple instructions and address standardized situations with minimal variables.
