Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled High Voltage Electrical Specialist to join our team at the University of California-Davis. As a key member of our High Voltage unit, you will be responsible for maintaining, constructing, repairing, and operating medium and high voltage electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • 60% - Construction, Renovation, & Maintenance
  • 20% - Mechanical/Electrical Operations
  • 20% - Preventative Maintenance
Requirements
  • Possess a certificate of completion from a recognized union apprenticeship program, University apprenticeship program, accredited trade school, or have equivalent experience and training comparable to a journey level craftsperson in the high voltage and medium voltage electrical trade.
  • Journey level knowledge and experience in the medium and high voltage electrical trade and related practices to perform assigned duties without direct supervision.
  • Skill to fabricate, maintain, service, repair, replace, install, and/or alter medium and high voltage electrical equipment and other campus systems related to craft.
  • Skill to inspect and perform preventive maintenance program on electrical trade equipment and other campus systems.

  • Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Skill to provide clearly written and understandable reports and instructions.
  • Analytical skill to understand and interpret technical data and mechanical and structural specifications and blueprints.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Computer skills to operate a personal computer.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of approved safety devices and practices.
