Job Title: Traveling Pipefitter

At Robinson Construction, we are seeking a skilled Traveling Pipefitter to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing pipe systems in various industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with job site Superintendents to configure pipe system layouts.
  • Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications using various tools.
  • Lay out full-scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, or related equipment according to blueprints.
  • Assemble or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment according to specifications.
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading.
  • Inspect, examine, or test installed systems or pipe lines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
  • Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
  • Attach pipes to walls, structures, or fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
  • Modify, clean, or maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, or related machines or equipment using hand or power tools.
  • Select pipe sizes, types, or related materials according to specifications.
  • Cut or bore holes in structures prior to pipe installation using hand or power tools.
  • Install automatic controls to regulate pipe systems.
  • Shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections using valve keys or wrenches.
  • Remove and replace worn components.
  • Inspect work sites for obstructions or holes that could cause structural weakness.
  • Install fixtures, appliances, or equipment designed to reduce water or energy consumption.
  • Install pipe systems to support alternative energy-fueled systems.
  • Check work and repair or correct any faults.
  • Take personal responsibility for fostering a safe workplace by following safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Four or more years of Journeyman Pipefitting experience.
  • Industrial machine licenses (such as a forklift license) preferred.
  • Current OSHA 10 or MSHA Certification preferred.
  • TWIC card preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • May be exposed to fumes, dust, or other airborne particles.
  • May be exposed to loud noises.
  • Position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and vibrating machinery.
  • May be exposed to extreme outside conditions, including inclement weather, heat, and humidity or cold and wet conditions.
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals or waste.
Benefits:
  • Schedule is typically Monday through Friday, averaging 40-50 hours per week.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Shiftwork may be required.
  • Holiday and weekend work may be required.
