Construction Compliance Inspector

Position Summary

The Building Inspector is accountable for performing thorough inspections of both commercial and residential structures to ensure adherence to established building codes, regulations, and ordinances. This position includes evaluating architectural plans, offering guidance to the public, and resolving construction-related inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure consistent attendance and be present at the workplace.
• Be available for after-hours duties when necessary.
• Participate in emergency response activities as needed.
• Conduct inspections of buildings during various phases of construction and renovation.
• Examine plans for compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
• Address public complaints and issue violation notices when applicable.
• Effectively communicate building requirements and limitations to stakeholders.
• Document and maintain comprehensive inspection records.
• Respond to emergencies caused by natural disasters.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent qualification.
• 3-5 years of pertinent experience in the field.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
• Possess a valid Class 'C' Driver's License.
• Complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within three months of employment.
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
• Must achieve Building Inspector Certification within one year of employment.
