Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer at the University of Texas Medical Branch, you will play a crucial role in the Non-invasive cardiac laboratory, providing supervisory and advanced technical skills in the performance of patient examinations and testing. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the highest quality care for our patients.

Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic testing and care of patients appropriate to age, respecting privacy and confidentiality, and recognizing potential abuse or neglect.

• Facilitate maintenance of body image, take appropriate fall precautions, and recognize increased potential for adverse drug reactions and interactions.

• Make appropriate provisions for thermoregulation, follow laboratory directors' guidelines, and determine the most appropriate testing techniques for patients.

• Inform attending physicians of findings in difficult or unusual cases, attend daily echocardiography interpretation sessions, and participate in teaching and conferences.

• Care for and maintain echocardiography equipment, ensure cleanliness and order of the laboratory area, and notify personnel of supply needs.

• Responsible for proper record keeping, data storage, and retrieval for clinical and research purposes, and assist in clinical research protocols as needed.

Requirements:

• High School or equivalent, and completion of one of the following: Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

• Satisfactory completion of a formal cardiac sonographer training program, or graduate from a diagnostic ultrasound training program with additional experience and registry eligibility.

• Preferred licensure/certifications: CCI - RCCS (registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer) Pedi and RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) Adult, or ARDMS - RDCS-PE (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer- Pediatric Echocardiography) and RDCS-AE (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer- Adult Echocardiography).
