KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivers curriculum in accordance with established standards.
- Encourages children through intentional programming aimed at fostering achievement and a sense of belonging among youth and within families.
- Oversees the children, classroom environment, and all activities, including necessary accommodations. Adheres to all protocols and standards.
- Builds positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents. Involves parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
- Ensures the upkeep of the program site and its resources.
- Keeps accurate program records.
- Participates in family events, program activities, staff meetings, and training sessions.
- Performs additional duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Meets educational and experience criteria set by state regulations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and completion of required training within 30 days of hire.
- Prior experience working with children in a developmental context is preferred.
- Ability to foster positive, authentic relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Capability to implement age-appropriate and developmentally suitable program activities.
- Experience with diverse populations is advantageous.
- Completion of required training within 7 days of hire.
- Awareness of the YMCA's commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for extended periods.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must be capable of lifting and/or assisting children weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to maintain alertness while standing or sitting for several hours.
- Position may require bending, kneeling, and walking.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Visual and auditory capacity to respond to critical situations and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergencies.
- Ability to engage in data entry for extended periods.
