Job Title: Restaurant Host

We are seeking a skilled and charismatic Restaurant Host to join our team at Rivers Casino Portsmouth. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional guest experiences and ensuring seamless service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Answering Phones: Respond promptly to phone calls, ensuring that the phone does not ring more than three times.
  • Greeting Guests: Welcome all guests with a warm and friendly greeting, bidding them farewell and thanking them for choosing Crossings.
  • Table Management: Show guests to their tables at a comfortable pace, pulling out chairs and introducing servers as needed.
  • Quality Assurance: Provide a quality assurance experience by offering a warm and friendly greeting, making eye contact, and using approved verbiage.
  • Special Requests: Inform servers of special requests, celebrations, or time constraints using approved methods.
  • Check Transfer: Follow approved check transfer policy and perform opening and closing procedures as defined.
  • Large Parties: Provide a breakdown of large parties throughout the meal period as necessary.
  • Mail and Projects: Perform any mailing, posting, mailing list, and projects given by the manager on duty as time permits.
  • Table Setup: Ensure that all tables are properly set before seating, with menus and wine lists in good shape and presentable to guests.
  • Sanitation and Cleanliness: Adhere to proper sanitation procedures and maintain cleanliness, stocking, sale, and appearance of retail items and the restaurant entrance.
Requirements:
  • Education: None required.
  • Experience: A strategic thinker and creative problem solver with a track record of putting ideas into practice and assessing results.
  • Certifications: Gaming license/registration as required by jurisdiction(s) and ability to obtain a food handlers card.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Verbal Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Credibility and Rapport: Demonstrates the ability to establish credibility and rapport with operating leaders.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing and Lifting: Must be able to work while standing for hours at a time and lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week, including holidays.
