Job Summary

Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Technician to join our team. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to our clients in a residential setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and report on client behavior and activities, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and support to clients, utilizing approved behavior modification techniques.
  • Conduct and participate in basic life skills activities, promoting client independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Process admissions and discharges, orienting clients to the facility and explaining rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete required program documentation and reports, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
  • Document client activities, behavior patterns, and changes, maintaining a thorough understanding of client needs.
  • Ensure clients adhere to established schedules and routines, promoting a structured and supportive environment.
  • Collect urine specimens and complete associated paperwork, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Conduct security and safety checks, monitoring visitors and clients for contraband and ensuring a secure environment.
  • Perform general office and public contact duties, including answering phones, using program radios, and greeting visitors.
  • Participate in meetings and conversations with staff, providing updates on client progress and addressing concerns.
  • Perform general cleaning responsibilities, maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
  • Attend training and in-services, staying up-to-date on industry best practices and company policies.
  • Utilize approved de-escalation techniques, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all clients and staff.
  • Transport clients to other agencies, hospitals, homes, and community activities, promoting socialization and community integration.
  • Ensure compliance with CARF, AHCA, DCF, DJJ, and DOC standards and security safeguards, maintaining a high level of professionalism and expertise.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months of related human services experience preferred.
  • Preference given to those certified as Behavioral Health Technicians.
  • Additional education and/or experience may be required as per specific program guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Some knowledge of the human services field and the application of basic client care skills.
  • Ability to utilize behavior management techniques and serve as a role model.
  • Ability to handle verbally and/or physically abusive and aggressive clients, utilizing aggression control techniques to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with suicidal, mentally, emotionally, and/or psychologically disturbed clients, both in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to defuse potentially dangerous situations and remain calm in an emergency.
  • Ability to understand and implement The Mandt System, assisting clients in crisis and utilizing physical restraint when necessary.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain written documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
