Job Title: Outpatient RN MS Program Specialist

Shepherd Center, a leading provider of medical treatment, research, and rehabilitation for individuals with spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neuromuscular conditions, is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Outpatient RN MS Program Specialist to join our team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nursing, with a focus on multiple sclerosis care. They will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring seamless communication among patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care services for patients in a hospital outpatient setting
  • Utilize a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to anticipate, integrate, and coordinate patient care plans
  • Serve as a patient/caregiver advocate and communicate effectively with internal and external healthcare providers
  • Infuse immunosuppressive, blood, and chemotherapy agents, and manage hypersensitivity reactions
  • Insert peripheral intravenous catheters and access and maintain venous access devices
  • Collect, analyze, and report clinical data as indicated by the patient's physician or APP
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a nursing program from an accredited college or university
  • Active Georgia RN license or NLC/eNLC Multistate license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum one year RN experience, preferably in ambulatory/outpatient procedure or infusion center

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous nursing experience with patients with neurological injury or disease
  • Phlebotomy and peripheral intravenous catheterization skills

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to transfer and position patients, consistent with lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Exposure to blood-borne and bodily fluid pathogens, administration of bio-hazardous and chemotherapy medications, and sterilization and high-level disinfectant heat/chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors
