Job Summary

The Diocese of Orlando seeks a highly skilled and detail-oriented Janitor/Housekeeper to maintain the cleanliness and organization of its facilities. This individual will be responsible for providing exceptional custodial and housekeeping services, adhering to established procedures and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain all building interiors by dusting, polishing, and cleaning furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures.
  • Clean and maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Clean and resupply restrooms.
  • Perform general cleaning and disinfecting using approved solvents and tools.
  • Remove trash and recyclables, and transport materials to disposal areas.
  • Service and report mechanical malfunctions.
  • Perform seasonal work surrounding special meetings and events.
  • Assist with preparation and service of coffee and refreshments for assigned functions.
  • Report and remove potential safety hazards.
  • Clean hallways, washrooms, lavatories, rooms, drinking fountains, offices, dining rooms, and entrances daily.
  • Perform light maintenance as directed.
  • Check outside buildings for litter and pick it up as needed.
  • Perform scheduled monthly, semiannual, or annual janitorial duties, such as floor waxing, interior window washing, and carpet cleaning.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Related experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Must pass Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training.
Working Conditions

This position requires flexibility and availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. The individual must be able to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure.

Physical Requirements

The tasks involved in this position require the ability to exert heavy physical effort, with a focus on climbing, balancing, and lifting moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds).
