Job Summary

Klamath County is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Plumbing Inspector to join our team. As a Commercial Plumbing Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting inspections and plan reviews on commercial and residential plumbing work to ensure compliance with the Oregon Plumbing Specialty Code. This is an hourly, non-exempt position, with a wage range of $41.46 per hour. The pay range listed here reflects the FULL pay range for this position for the current fiscal year. Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections and plan reviews on commercial and residential plumbing work to ensure compliance with the Oregon Plumbing Specialty Code.
  • Perform inspections of building and structures of all complexities in order to ascertain that the Plumbing Codes and any other certified disciplines be enforced in accordance with the State of Oregon Codes and County Ordinances.
  • Ensure that all plumbing work is done in accordance with the Oregon Plumbing Specialty Code and County Ordinances.
  • Identify and report any non-compliance issues to the relevant authorities.
  • Provide guidance and education to property owners, contractors, and other stakeholders on plumbing code requirements and best practices.
Requirements
  • Education, Certification, & Experience
    • You must have any one of the following: Have three years of employment and experience as an Oregon journeyman plumber (JP) or its equivalent/or you must have a degree in mechanical engineering or certified professional registration with two years of work experience in plumbing design, installation, or inspection/ or four years of work experience exclusively in the inspection of plumbing installations of which at least two years is of commercial, industrial, and multi-family structures/ or four years of work.
    • Current Driver's License
    • Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC)
    • Oregon State Certification (PI) Plumbing Specialty Code Inspector.
    • Oregon State Certification (MGI) Medical Gas Plumbing (must obtain within 6 months of hire date)
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
    • Mathematical Skills – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • Reasoning Ability – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Springbrook Time Sheets Contact Management systems; Accela E Permitting Development software; Internet software and Project Management software.
