Job Title: Teaching Assistant Certified EDU School

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Teaching Assistant to provide instructional support to students with developmental disabilities, including autism. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a licensed or certified teacher to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional support and behavioral assistance to students with developmental disabilities, including autism.
  • Implement learning plans and behavioral support plans, and perform a variety of support activities related to behavior management, classroom instruction, and classroom management.
  • Assist the teacher in maintaining documentation requirements and performing clerical support duties.
  • Supervise students throughout the day, in all environments, and assist the teacher in relation to their team role.
  • Support the team with positive communication strategies and demonstrate an understanding of behaviorally based instructional practices.

Qualifications:

  • New York State Teacher Assistant Certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Special Education or another related field preferred.
  • Experience working with persons diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
