Job Overview:
The Clinical Nurse PRN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, employing the nursing process in line with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures to monitor and evaluate patient functionality.
Educational Requirements:
Completion of the fundamental professional curriculum from an accredited nursing school, verified by a state board of nursing, and possession of a diploma or degree.
Licensure and Certification:
A valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License is required.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient understanding of general disease management processes, bio-psychosocial models, and clinical pathways. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks. Detail-oriented approach is essential for examining clinical and numerical data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care.
- Assess, organize, and deliver patient care while considering age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
- Document all steps of the nursing process accurately.
- Employ appropriate medical terminology.
- Address issues and track progress towards goals.
- Facilitate patient discharge through timely referrals and educational resources tailored to patient demographics.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams as needed.
- Support unit and hospital objectives through participation in performance improvement and educational activities, including attending in-services and completing variance reports.
Decision-Making:
Exercise independent judgment in making decisions from diverse alternatives, subject to general review in final stages.
Working Relationships:
Coordinate activities of others without direct supervision. Lead peers in similar tasks without supervisory responsibilities. Engage directly with patients and/or customers, both internally and externally, and collaborate with healthcare professionals and staff, often interacting with individuals at the Director level or above.
