Job SummaryWe are looking for a talented Systems Architect to lead the design and implementation of our technical infrastructure. You will work closely with our IT team to identify business requirements and develop architectural solutions that meet our needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expertise and leadership in technology architecture with a focus on technical and application architecture, strategy, road mapping, and methodology.
- Contribute to the planning, design, delivery, and implementation of user-centric solutions related to large-scale, complex products.
- Collaborate with partners to understand business requirements and objectives, and design and develop architectural solutions that meet these needs.
- Evaluate existing systems and technologies to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
- Define technical standards, protocols, and guidelines to ensure consistency and interoperability across systems.
- Recommend and implement new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed architectural changes or initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams during the implementation phase.
- Perform system performance tuning, capacity planning, and scalability assessments.
- Ensure security, compliance, and regulatory requirements are integrated into the system architecture.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, management information science, networking-telecommunications, and/or data processing in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience and expertise in system architecture with deep technical knowledge of application design, implementation, and deployment, as well as current and emerging architecture practices.
- Hands-on experience designing modern architectural patterns to support delivery of complex and legacy IT solutions that are stable, secure, responsive, and scalable.
- Knowledge of technical security and product management best practices.
- Knowledge of current industry standards and practices, particularly to architect, automate, and integrate processes that enable teams to build, test, and release product features faster.
- Experience in a Microsoft Windows-based environment.
- Knowledge in relational databases, database administration, and data lakes and warehousing.
- Familiarity with data integration, staging, quality, and distribution, and related tools.
- Familiarity with ETL process development and T-SQL, including stored procedures, advanced querying, and optimization.
- Experience with security and data classification related to the CDC, HIPAA, CJIS, PHI, and PII.
- Understanding of public health systems, data, and processes, including lab information systems, disease surveillance, integration engines, and HL7.
The CDC Foundation offers a competitive salary range of $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits. This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity with a position end date of June 30, 2025. The position is eligible for a fully remote work arrangement for U.S.-based candidates.
