Job Description
A Radiation Systems Engineer at Draper Labs is responsible for assessing and mitigating the impact of radiation on system performance. This involves analyzing environments, transporting those environments through system enclosures, modeling interactions with components and sensors, and testing components and sensors.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics, electrical engineering, or nuclear engineering, as well as 5-7 years of experience in radiation engineering or a related field. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, while a master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure radiation hardening is maintained across the product lifecycle. Your ability to drive solutions to complex problems and lead small teams will be essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support engineering decisions based on radiation effects on overall system performance
- Design, harden, and verify system performance across multiple radiation effects
- Lead interdisciplinary teams to maintain radiation hardening throughout the product lifecycle
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary program team members
- Experience with radiation interactions with materials and devices
