Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Mechanic Helper to join our team at EMCOR Group. As a key member of our HVAC services team, you will provide assistance to our experienced plumbers in a fast-paced commercial and industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist plumbers in laying out, assembling, and installing piping for air, ammonia, gas, and water systems.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble new pipe, placing the assembled pipe as directed.
  • Cut or drill holes in walls or floors to accommodate the passage of pipe.
  • Perform rough-ins, repair, and replace fixtures and water heaters; locate, repair, or remove leaking or broken pipe.
  • Assist in fitting valves, couplings, or assemblies to tanks, pumps, or systems using hand tools.
  • Mount brackets and hangers on walls and ceilings to hold pipes. Set sleeves and inserts to provide supports for pipes.
  • Disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe.
  • Immerse pipe in chemical solution to remove dirt, oil, and scale.
  • Clean work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Completion of trade/technical school or other apprenticeship programs is helpful.
  • Minimum of one – three years prior work experience as a plumber's helper in commercial or light industrial settings is necessary.
  • Ability to use power tools and equipment commonly used in the construction trade in a safe manner is required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to climb ladders, lift and carry 50 or more pounds, distinguish colors for electrical work, and tolerate confined spaces.
  • Work will involve heights and seasonal temperature extremes.
