Job Overview:

Sargent & Lundy, L.L.C. is a premier engineering consulting firm seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our team.

As a key member of our mechanical engineering group, you will be responsible for leading the design efforts for complex mechanical systems in heavy industrial plants, including power, oil & gas, and chemical facilities.

With a strong background in integrated system design and a proven track record of leading teams through all phases of a project design, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality designs that meet our clients' needs.

We offer a competitive salary range of $160,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical engineering design efforts for complex projects, including integrated system design, equipment selection, piping material specification, control philosophy development, and performance sizing calculations.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications for mechanical engineering equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, commissioning, and start-up groups, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their careers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, with a focus on heavy industrial plants.
  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering design team through all phases of a project design.
  • Puerto Rico PE license required.
  • Fluent bilingual skills in Spanish and English (speak, read, write).
  • Technical knowledge of available equipment and pre-engineered systems, with experience creating design schematics using computer-aided design software.
