Job Details

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Assistant Retail Manager plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, organized store environment with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Under the guidance of the Store Manager, the Assistant Retail Manager aids in supervising store personnel, managing merchandise presentation, completing necessary paperwork, and preparing financial deposits.

This role also involves stocking, cashiering, and performing various tasks to enhance profitability and customer satisfaction while safeguarding company assets and minimizing losses.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service; warmly greet and assist customers, and efficiently operate the cash register to process transactions.
  • Open and close the store at least two days each week.
  • Support the Store Manager in scheduling staff, providing adequate training, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Adhere to company procedures for managing merchandise, including receiving, unpacking, stocking, and organizing products on shelves.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels by managing damages, markdowns, and other controls.
  • Help implement and maintain merchandising plans; ensure products are displayed according to established guidelines.
  • Ensure financial integrity of the store through strict adherence to cash handling procedures and security practices.
  • Assist in managing store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle various situations effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines and operational manuals.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations.
  • Experience with cash register operations and report generation.
  • Understanding of cash management and safety control policies.
  • Ability to drive to make bank deposits as needed.

WORK EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of experience in a retail setting, with six months in a supervisory role preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Regular bending, stooping, and kneeling for various tasks.
  • Handling merchandise and equipment such as scanners and carts.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing using a step ladder.
  • Fast-paced work environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Occasional driving for bank deposits and meetings.
