About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and manage client billings, using industry-standard formats and client-specific requirements.
  • Review and reconcile subcontracts and subcontractor change orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Attend project kick-off meetings, noting key financial requirements and procedures.
  • Obtain and review contract GMPs, working with Estimating and Project Management to assign phase codes and enter original budgets.
  • Review and process invoices and subcontractor progress payment forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and review monthly requisitions, working with Project Managers to update and balance cost reports.
  • Review and ensure compliance with sales and use tax requirements.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in project accounting, with a strong understanding of cost accounting and WIP.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with construction accounting software (CMIC ERP, Timberline, or Sage).
  • Effective communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
