Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States Society for Neuroscience Full time

The Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is seeking two tenure-track faculty members at the assistant professor level. Located on the main MIT campus in Cambridge, MA, we offer a supportive environment for scientific inquiry and a strong commitment to an inclusive culture. We are particularly interested in researchers who can advance our understanding of the brain and its functions. Successful applicants will be expected to develop and lead independent research programs and contribute to the department's teaching and mentoring efforts. A PhD in a relevant field is required. The search is expected to proceed on a timeline that would enable a start date of July 1, 2025 or a mutually-agreed-to date thereafter. Application materials must be submitted online and include a cover letter, current CV, statement of research, teaching and mentoring plan, broader impact statement, and up to five representative reprints. The broader impact statement can cover topics including service, contributions to the university community, or other means of supporting the educational environment. BCS and the McGovern Institute value rigorous and replicable science. Applicants are encouraged to describe how these values are reflected in their work to date and their future research plans. Please arrange to have three letters of recommendation submitted online. Finally, please indicate which of the two research areas described above is most representative of your research plans. To receive full consideration, completed applications must be submitted by midnight (EST) on November 15, 2024. MIT is an equal employment opportunity employer. We value diversity and strongly encourage applications from individuals from all identities and backgrounds. All qualified applicants will receive equitable consideration for employment based on their experience and qualifications, and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, or national or ethnic origin.
