Job Title: Shop Technician

At Peterson, we're committed to building the future with our customers. As a Shop Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our equipment is in top condition, ready to serve our customers and communities.

Job Summary

The Shop Technician is responsible for performing service activities in our main service shop for customer and sales and rental fleet equipment. This includes analyzing and diagnosing equipment malfunctions, performing repairs and maintenance, and ensuring all work is done to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to promote a positive relationship.
  • Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Perform repairs, replacements, and rebuilds on engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and other critical components.
  • Write service reports that accurately document activities and prepare required documentation, including work orders and timecards.
  • Operate company or personal vehicles as needed and maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • An Associate's Degree in Diesel Technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of directly related experience in heavy equipment service, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to safety and quality.
