Job Summary

The Laboratory Quality Assurance Specialist is a key member of the site Quality team at Finlays. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality laboratory data through the execution of laboratory analysis.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting laboratory analyses, including sampling and sample management, to generate laboratory data for assigned products and samples.
  • Employing wet chemical, instrumentation, and microbiological techniques to produce repeatable, reproducible, and reliable laboratory data.
  • Ensuring compliance to Finlays protocols, standards, and methods, and addressing non-compliance as required.
  • Planning daily tasks in the laboratory to ensure continuity in service to plant operations.
  • Attending training and competence initiatives as required.
  • Applying Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to ensure equipment service and repair, calibration, and metrological compliance, and health and safety protocols.
  • Calibrating and quality assuring non-laboratory based quality measurement devices.
  • Conducting basic problem-solving to address and validate anomalous results as required.
  • Conducting training for shift and process personnel as applicable for quality analysis and measurement.
  • Ensuring compliance to world-class housekeeping standards.

Deliverables

  • Generating daily, weekly, and monthly records and reports that support operations in establishing the status of site quality.
  • Communicating out-of-specification results as required by site and Group protocols in a timely manner.
  • Playing an active role in the laboratory team to deliver a high level of service.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have a degree or diploma in a science-related field and relevant laboratory experience. Key skills and qualifications include:

  • Laboratory skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to conduct analytical analyses and microbiological analyses if applicable.
  • Good knowledge of laboratory health and safety practices related to toxic substances, chemicals, reagents, and safe working practices.
  • Expert knowledge of laboratory techniques and practices.
  • Data handling skills, including proficiency in using basic data tools and basic statistics.
  • Quality and Food Safety systems knowledge.
  • Metrological compliance knowledge.

Skills and Experience

  • 1-2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.
