Covanta Energy is seeking a skilled Processing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for processing inbound waste in various forms, including liquids, powders, and sludges.
Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment, including track hoes, skid steers, forklifts, and vac trucks, to process inbound waste.
- Receive, weigh, unpack, and label containers as necessary.
- Mix inbound waste streams in preparation for solidification.
- Stage empty and full containers.
- Accurately complete shop floor paperwork in both written and electronic format.
- Verify the accuracy of quantity and quality of incoming deliveries.
- Label every package and place them in the designated area for processing.
- Identify and locate the correct products during waste processing.
- Keep a well-maintained and updated account of waste staged for processing or 10-day transfer.
- Categorize hazardous and non-hazardous waste according to RCRA/DOT regulations.
- Prepare manifests and supporting documentation for waste transportation and disposal according to RCRA, State, and DOT regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must follow all Safety Rules, Regulations, Operating Procedures, Corporate/Plant Policies, and Laws at all times.
- Hands-on waste experience with the operation of track hoes, skid steers, forklifts, vac trucks, tanker trucks, roll-off trucks, pressure washers, shredders, various hand tools, and material handling equipment is preferred.
- Must be able to pass Safety Basic Plus HACSC and Hazwoper training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be computer literate and have good math skills.
