Position Overview
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in our Float Pool, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality nursing care across various departments, including Medical-Surgical Services and Behavioral Health Services. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring patient safety and comfort during staffing shortages.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist registered nurses in gathering patient data to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for both medical/surgical and psychiatric patients.
- Participate actively in the planning and execution of patient care, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Document all patient interactions accurately and maintain clear communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Utilize effective interviewing techniques to gather necessary information for care planning.
- Exercise sound clinical judgment and critical thinking throughout the nursing process.
- Contribute to the development and revision of individualized care plans based on current patient needs.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and unusual situations, following established protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to foster a supportive team environment.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and competency assessments.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A diploma from an accredited nursing program.
- A valid LPN license in the State of Alabama.
- Experience in a hospital setting, with a preference for candidates with two years in Medical-Surgical Services or one year in Behavioral Medicine.
- Current ACLS certification and completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support.
