Produce Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Produce Specialist to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our produce department, you will be responsible for ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality produce products.
Responsibilities- Purchase and replenish produce through effective buying procedures to meet customer demand and maintain inventory levels.
- Monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits in a timely and accurate manner.
- Control spoilage and shrink, achieve turn goals, and participate in inventory management to maximize sales potential.
- Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required to ensure compliance with company standards.
- 12+ months retail experience, preferably in a produce or grocery environment.
- Extensive knowledge of produce products, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, advances, and trends.
- Familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to colleagues, customers, and vendors.
- Able to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
This position requires standing/walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday, with frequent bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. Exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and FDA-approved cleaning chemicals is also expected. A flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
