Department of Anesthesiology | Texas Children's Hospital

The Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a qualified Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to provide anesthesia care for pediatric patients. CRNAs play a vital role in the management of patients throughout the surgical process, including preoperative assessments, intraoperative anesthesia administration, and postoperative care, while also being prepared to respond to emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer various forms of anesthesia, including inhaled, intravenous, neuraxial, and regional techniques for surgical and medical interventions.
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations prior to anesthesia administration to develop an appropriate anesthetic strategy.
  • Utilize both invasive and noninvasive monitoring techniques as necessary.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, ensuring proper airway management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of anesthetic procedures and patient status.
  • May oversee or guide student registered nurse anesthetists.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as required.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Nursing.
  • Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists, along with Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) credentials. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is also required.
  • Ability to work independently.
