Job Summary:

Omaha Housing Authority is seeking a skilled Housing Inspector to conduct property inspections and ensure compliance with National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) and Housing Quality Standards (HQS).

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct initial, annual, follow-up, complaint, and special inspections of public housing units and privately owned rental dwelling units.
Determine compliance with HUD rules & regulations, City of Omaha Building Codes, and OHA policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain rapport with owners, managers, and residents to encourage compliance standards.

Requirements:

Associates degree with two years experience in fundamentals of property inspection and maintenance, or any equivalent amount of education and experience.
Ability to express ideas orally and in writing, as well as the ability to communicate solutions of housing maintenance problems to property owners.
Ability to diagnose and analyze housing conditions, work independently, and establish effective working relationships with co-workers, consultants, contractors, HUD, local, state, federal officials.
