Job Summary

This part-time position involves leading physical education classes with a coaching heart. The ideal candidate will plan or follow a provided plan and implement instruction/activities in each class, motivating students to be active while promoting good behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute lesson plans with students in physical education activities, ensuring student safety and promoting development of physical attributes.
  • Coordinate students in physical education activities, planning instruction to promote development of physical attributes and ensure student safety.
  • Research physical education activities and materials, and report to the director on content and progress throughout the school season.
  • Build rapport with the principal/director of the school to keep them informed on progress, and provide a fun and safe learning environment.
  • Use appropriate classroom management techniques, manage the group while giving individual attention, and assist in maintaining the school's appearance where PE classes are conducted.

Requirements:

  • Enjoy working with children and have some sports background.
  • Ability to be on time and strive for perfect attendance.
  • Ability to manage a plan and adapt to the changing needs of children.
  • Ability to work independently with general direction from the director.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to practice open communication with the director.
  • Highly motivated and organized, with high energy and a positive attitude.
  • Working knowledge of effective educational techniques.
  • Must be confident and articulate when challenged, and able to act as a professional in front of parents, teachers, and staff.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to play actively with children on their level, stand for extensive periods of time, and move quickly when necessary.
  • Must be able to work and move outside in the typical Florida climate, at times temperatures in the 90's.

Education/Experience:

  • Current teacher certification is a plus.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in education.
  • Experience in formal or non-formal settings such as teaching, coaching, or working with children.
  • Current CPR and First Aid cards are suggested.
