The primary objective of our Veterinary Student Externship is to provide a comprehensive and immersive learning experience for 3rd and 4th year students enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. This program is designed to be a 2-week block at our hospital, where students can gain hands-on experience and develop their clinical skills under the direct supervision of our experienced veterinary staff.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
- Perform inpatient and outpatient medical care under the direct supervision of our veterinary staff.
- Conduct in-house diagnostic tests (hematology, chemistry, and radiology) with competence.
- Provide routine client education and support.
- Assist in surgical procedures and develop expertise in veterinary medicine.
Requirements and Eligibility
To be eligible for our Veterinary Extern Program, participants must currently be enrolled in an AVMA-accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program.
