We're excited to offer this opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Data Science Lead at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. You'll play a pivotal role in enhancing our Credit risk Data Science function and driving full lifecycle model development and approval process at the bank.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and deploying advanced models for credit underwriting, account management, and collections, utilizing both traditional credit bureau data and alternative sources.
  • Leading the approval process with Model Validation, second-line, and regulators, ensuring best practices in model development, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to chart the roadmap for core risk decision-making and strategy, driving innovation through adoption of emerging technologies in Machine Learning and AI.
Expected Salary

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $158,000.00 and $198,000.00, based on individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in your geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • 7+ years of experience in the Consumer financial services industry or a PhD with at least 5 years of professional experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in mathematics, finance, industrial engineering, statistics, data science, or a related discipline; a master's degree in these fields is preferred.
  • Expertise in design and build of risk underwriting and account management models that leverage alternative data, such as bank transactional data and specialty bureaus.
