Position Overview:
Presbyterian Homes & Services is in search of a Wellness Coach to join our dedicated team. The Wellness Coach is responsible for guiding, instructing, and inspiring individuals or groups in various exercise programs at designated PHS locations. This role may also encompass aquatic exercise sessions if aquatic facilities are available on-site.

The Wellness Coach collaborates with the Fitness Director to create the necessary curriculum and lesson plans to ensure that classes meet the wellness goals of participants.


Key Responsibilities:

Among the essential duties of the Wellness Coach are:

  • Conducting professional classes focusing on balance, strength, flexibility, endurance, and other relevant topics beneficial to participants.
  • Working alongside the Fitness Director to develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum and class schedule that caters to the needs of Fitness Center participants, ensuring a diverse range of classes.
  • Providing lifeguard services on the pool deck to oversee pool usage and ensure participant safety (for locations with aquatic facilities).
  • Administering standardized assessments uniformly.
  • Educating residents and caregivers about available interventions and programs.
  • Maintaining a safe and hygienic fitness environment and equipment.
  • Monitoring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation during fitness activities when applicable.
  • Completing accurate and timely documentation supporting the services rendered.
  • Ensuring proper billing for services provided in accordance with company policies.
  • Managing a flexible schedule to accommodate resident needs and adapting to departmental changes.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in the fitness industry is preferred. Current certifications in CPR and First Aid from the Red Cross are required, along with lifeguard certification specific to the type of pool at the assigned community or a willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Additionally, certification from a nationally recognized organization for personal training and group fitness, such as the American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), or National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) is essential.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to engage professionally and positively with residents, guests, families, and staff at all levels. Willingness to travel to other PHS communities is necessary. Candidates should also exhibit compatibility with PHS's mission and operational philosophies, along with proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language for effective communication with all stakeholders.
