Pre-K / Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Fall River Public Schools. As a member of our department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality education to students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to ensure students with special needs access to the regular education curriculum.
- Collaborate with school staff to promote maximum access to general education curriculum for students with special education needs.
- Conduct diagnostic and educational assessments of children suspected of or diagnosed with special education needs.
- Design and implement teaching strategies using the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks to ensure students with special education needs access to the regular education curriculum.
- Provide support and accommodations in the regular education classroom to ensure students with special education needs succeed.
- Communicate with parents of students with special education needs to ensure their involvement in the educational process.
- Submit reports and schedules as required to the Principal, Director, and/or Supervisor of Special Education.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major emphasis in Special Education.
- Certification in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Teacher of Special Education, consistent with grade level and prototype of youngsters (Pre-K-2 or Pre-K-5).
- Preference will be given to those candidates who present evidence of substantial experience in working collaboratively with school staff while supporting special education children in regular education classrooms.
In accordance with the Fall River Educators' Association contract. Continued employment is contingent on work performance, program need, and funding.
