POSITION OVERVIEW

The Physician Assistant (PA) in Primary Care serves as a licensed and certified healthcare professional who delivers direct patient care. This role includes delegated prescriptive authority and is recognized as an independent billing provider by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical services aligned with the scope of practice defined by the supervising physician.

Typically, these professionals care for patients in settings such as internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, or pediatrics.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts thorough assessments of patients' physical and mental health through comprehensive or focused examinations and medical histories.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests to evaluate patient health and needs.
  • Prescribes and recommends medical therapies and treatments, ensuring adherence to safety and efficacy standards.
  • Suggests behavioral modifications to mitigate health risks.
  • Develops and implements detailed treatment plans based on patient evaluations, evidence-based practices, and collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Monitors and assesses patient responses to treatments and care provided.
  • Provides counseling to patients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment options, medication management, nutrition, and health promotion strategies.
  • Advises patients on medication regimens, including potential side effects and interactions with other substances.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of patient treatment plans and outcomes, initiating referrals when necessary.
  • Offers specialized consultation services for conditions related to the provider's expertise.
  • Performs specific invasive procedures as authorized by the supervising physician.
  • May manage a patient panel in a collaborative model, focusing on both acute and chronic health issues as well as population health initiatives.

  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and occasional Saturdays.
