Job Overview

Minnesota Women's Care is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a critical role in our sanitation and infection control efforts, this position is responsible for ensuring all departments have clean, sterile equipment readily available for patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment by stocking exam rooms, back offices, common areas, breakrooms, and bathrooms.
  • Decontaminate and sterilize instruments and equipment to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Assemble, store, and distribute instruments and equipment to meet the needs of our healthcare team.
  • Turn over and fold laundry for all departments to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Assist with turning over exam rooms to ensure a smooth transition between patients.
  • Operate equipment to disinfect and decontaminate surgery and clinical instruments and medical devices.
  • Inspect instruments and equipment for signs of damage, wear, and tear to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Unpack, check, and stock new supplies, equipment, and instruments to maintain a well-stocked inventory.
  • Deliver supplies and instruments as needed to support our healthcare team.
  • Respond to emergency requests by hand-delivering items to colleagues in need.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor temperature and humidity conditions within storage and work areas to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Complete and log routine maintenance and cleaning of sterilizing equipment and machines to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Sterilize items that have not been used for three or more months to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
Requirements
  • Punctuality and adherence to schedule are essential for this role.
  • At least one year of experience in a medical environment is required.
  • A sterile processing technician certificate is preferred.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds is necessary for this role.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time is required.
  • Ability to work in an upright, standing position for extended periods of time is necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Strong communication skills to interact in a professional manner are necessary.
  • Knowledge of best practice for infection control, hazardous waste disposal, and emergency preparedness is required.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and a wide range of surgery instruments, medical devices, and equipment is preferred.
