Position Overview:

The California Museum-Photography is dedicated to fostering innovative educational experiences that reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusion in the arts. We are currently seeking qualified individuals for part-time and/or full-time Educational Instructor roles to engage with students in various photography-related courses.

These positions will be available for a defined period, with opportunities to teach in different terms based on departmental needs and funding availability. Some courses may be conducted remotely, and the number of positions will fluctuate according to quarterly requirements.

Teaching Responsibilities:
We are looking for exceptional instructors who can effectively deliver courses in photography, catering to a diverse student population. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in engaging with students from various backgrounds and possess a strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices.

General Duties/Responsibilities:
In alignment with our mission, instructors will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses. Responsibilities include:

  • Comprehensive course preparation and delivery.
  • Assessment and grading of student work.
  • Office hours for student consultations.
  • Mentoring and supervising teaching assistants as necessary.

Qualifications:
Basic qualifications include:
An advanced degree or a Master's degree in Education, Photography, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of teaching experience.

Preferred qualifications:
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or a related discipline, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience in ethnic studies or similar areas.

Expertise in teaching students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds is essential.
